Reaching objectives

First destination certified in 14 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.

Santiago del Teide is the first destination to be certified in 14 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. Through a firm commitment to balancing tourism development with the protection of our valuable natural and cultural environment, we have proved that tourism can be a positive force for economic, environmental, and social development. We invite our visitors to join us on this journey towards a more sustainable future, where every experience contributes to the well-being of the community and the care of the planet.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is an action plan for people, the planet and prosperity, which also aims to strengthen universal peace and access to justice.

193 member states of the United Nations approved a resolution recognising that the greatest challenge facing the world today is the eradication of poverty and affirming that without achieving this, there can be no sustainable development.

The Agenda sets out 17 Goals with 169 integrated and indivisible targets covering the economic, social and environmental spheres. By adopting it, nations committed to mobilising the necessary resources for its implementation through partnerships focused especially on the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable.

The SDGs we have been certified for are as follows:

  1. No poverty.
  2. Zero hunger.
  3. Good health and well-being.
  4. Quality education.
  5. Gender equality.
  6. Affordable and clean energy.
  7. Decent work and economic growth.
  8. Reduced inequalities.
  9. Sustainable cities and communities.
  10. Responsible consumption and production.

  13. Life on land.
