In a landscape marked by volcanoes and trails, the Casa del Patio invites you to pause and look back. This 17th-century house, declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC), holds an essential part of local history within its walls.
Located in the heart of the historic centre of Santiago del Teide, exploring it means delving into the cultural roots of the municipality and discovering how tradition still thrives in every corner..
A special place with its own history
Built in the second half of the 17th century, the Casa del Patio preserves the essence of traditional Canarian architecture and the stately character of the period. Its central courtyard, wine presses, barns and cistern tell the story of a region marked by agricultural tradition.
More than just a collection of rooms, it is a testament to how life was organised in the valley: a space where agricultural tradition and stately character coexisted for centuries. Visiting it is a must for those who wish to discover the historic heart of Santiago del Teide.

The largest threshing floor in Tenerife
Among the corners of the Casa del Patio, the threshing floor catches everyone’s eye. It is a large paved circle, formerly used for working grain: here the crops were spread out and, with the help of animals, the grain was separated from the straw.
The threshing floor at the Casa del Patio is not just any threshing floor: it is the largest in Tenerife and probably in the Canary Islands, a space that surprises visitors with its size and good state of preservation. Walking around it is like taking a peek into an essential part of rural life in the valley, when agriculture was the driving force that sustained families in the area.

More than a house: a symbol of identity
The Casa del Patio is not just a 17th-century building, it is a space that preserves the memory of a people who learned to live in harmony with their volcanic and agricultural environment. Strolling through its courtyard, observing the threshing floor or stopping in the old workspaces is to come into contact with the roots of Santiago del Teide, with the way in which past generations made this land their home.
Your visit allows you to understand not only the place, but also those who inhabited it for centuries. The Casa del Patio keeps the history of the municipality alive and continues to be a symbol of identity for Santiago del Teide.
