Scientific Tourism
Based in Santiago del Teide, the ‘Farfalle Project’, unique in the Canary Islands, brings oceanographic research closer to the public through an educational experience. This pioneering initiative highlights the importance of adopting responsible habits towards the ocean and the species that inhabit it, especially in an environment as valuable as the Teno-Rasca protected coastal waters.
The activity includes a boat trip, during which participants are shown how to use different research and navigation instruments, while engaging in an educational dialogue on marine sustainability, biodiversity protection, and respectful observation of marine life in its natural habitat.
This multidisciplinary proposal transforms the coast of Santiago del Teide into a space for knowledge, environmental awareness, and the promotion of more conscious tourism committed to the conservation of marine ecosystems.
