Teno Rural Park

Entering the Teno Rural Park from Santiago del Teide is like embarking on a journey to one of the oldest and most impressive landscapes in Tenerife. Located in the north-western corner of the island, this natural area, together with Anaga and the Adeje-Roque del Conde massif, forms part of the oldest reliefs on the island. Shaped by ancient volcanic processes and bordered by the ocean, the park surprises visitors with its ravines, rugged ridges and imposing cliffs that rise above the sea.

One of its greatest treasures is the laurisilva forest of Monte del Agua, an ecosystem of great ecological value that is home to an astonishing diversity of endemic flora and fauna. Furthermore, this environment is home to the Tenerife giant lizard (Gallotia intermedia), an emblematic species of the island’s biodiversity.

Access from Santiago del Teide allows visitors to discover this natural space through trails that connect with the island’s oldest geological history.
