Chinyero
Visitor Centre
Located in the town centre of Santiago del Teide, the Chinyero Visitor Centre is a space dedicated to disseminating the volcanic history of the municipality and the island of Tenerife. Through multimedia resources and interactive content, the centre offers a modern museum experience that is accessible to all audiences.
The main exhibition focuses on the eruption of the Chinyero volcano in 1909, not only from a geological perspective, but also from a social one, showing how that event transformed the landscape and marked the lives of the inhabitants of the Valle de Santiago. Other rooms explore the island’s volcanology and its impact on the territory, as well as the municipality’s natural and cultural resources and trails.
The entire route allows visitors to understand how the history and identity of Santiago del Teide are deeply linked to its recent volcanic history.
